For the Wanderers

Maybe Next Time (2025)

Maybe Next Time for string quartet expresses the contemplative introspection and soul-searching that occurs within the mind after a missed opportunity. Whether it be a missed opportunity with a goal, a relationship, or not being able to speak to someone one last time, the beginning opens with a nebulous soundscape, evoking a sense of the mind when left to examine itself. As the melody emerges for the first and only time about 4 minutes into the piece, it unfolds out of the soundscape into a nostalgic, hopeful but tearful declaration. An ode to opportunities passed by, not in sorrow, but with a promise to not let it slip when it comes again. It ends with a descent into silence, no cadence, no resolution: a question for the future that is not given an answer.

Blossoming into melody from a nebulous, sparkling soundscape and ending in unresolved questioning, this piece is for those bask in the unknown, held in memories of warmth.

Available for string quartet.

Come, Walk With Me (2026)

Characterized by motion, yearning, and desperation, Come, Walk With Me pairs Emily Brontë's heart-wrenching poetry with intricate choral textures and a soaring violin line. Informed by the isolation and franticness of the poem, the piece never settles into a recognizable home base, aside from the recurring text "Come, walk with me," reflecting the unraveling of a once precious emotional connection. As the text gets more urgent and desperate at the very end, the choir descends into an aleatoric section while the piano and violin become faster, higher, and more panicked.

For choirs who want to tackle emotionally challenging repertoire and sit with uncomfortable, honest feelings, this piece offers an avenue to emotions less commonly explored in a choral setting while also containing intriguing and sonorous harmonies.

Available for SSAATTBB choir, piano, and violin. Other instrumentations available upon request.

For Your Consideration (2025)

Revolving over the development of one recurring motive, For Your Consideration explores the sparsity of an opening statement, building a world around it, and having the statement laid out in isolation again. It begs the question: with all the context and time spent with this, does the meaning change at all?

This piece is for a chamber ensemble that wants to explore restraint and the idea of evolution and dissolution over time.

Available for flute, Bb clarinet, Bb trumpet, claves, glockenspiel, piano, violin, and cello. Other instrumentations available upon request.

Dominus Vobiscum (2025)

Dominus Vobiscum pairs the traditional Latin text of the same name with the English text from Numbers 6:24-26. Borrowing the initial melodic structure from the chant tradition, a warm sonic world is constructed around it beckoning peace and security.

For a cappella choral ensembles, the harmonic textures blossom organically from the initial melodic material and allow ensembles to fully resonate into their purest sound. This piece is ideal for choirs of any size, chamber to festival, that want to live in lush, expansive harmonic worlds and imbue peace into their listeners.

Available for SSAATTBB choir and SSAA choir.
